Who we are

Hyde Park is a fellowship of Christ followers who desire to see the world changed through the gospel. The world is broken and we believe the answer is Jesus Christ because of the radical difference he has made in our lives. The church we strive to become can be found in Acts 2:42-47 which reveals a fellowship of people from all different walks of life focused on God’s word, prayer, community, multiplication, worship, and serving.

What we believe

God’s word: The Bible teaches us truth about God and his work to rescue us from the effects of the Fall, sin, and rebellion. We teach God’s word in a way that answers three questions: What does it say? What does it mean? How can I apply what I have learned? Teaching ministries of our church include worship services, small groups, and equipping seminars.

Community: Hyde Park is a multiethnic, multi-socioeconomic, diverse congregation. You will meet people from all different walks of life connecting with each other and growing in faith. You were never meant to live out your faith in isolation. Small group ministry is vital to your growth as a disciple and you will connect with people who will walk the journey of faith with you.

Prayer: Prayer influences every aspect of the ministry of Hyde Park. We pray with great expectations for a powerful move of God on behalf of the lost, the church, those who need physical, spiritual, emotional, healing, and world leaders. We have witnessed God answer many prayers at Hyde Park!

Multiplication: Jesus’ final command to the church was to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Every disciple is a missionary who is called to reach the lost with the message of the gospel both in word and deed. Hyde Park exists to connect people to God and to equip them to grow in their faith. Through many local, state, and international partnerships we seek to build God’s kingdom until Jesus returns.

Worship: Worship is more than a Sunday morning service. Worship is a lifestyle that includes every aspect of our life. We realize that God is higher, greater, and far more powerful than we can imagine. He is the creator and sustainer of all life. Worship is the realization of His greatness and our weakness.

Serving: Radical generosity, sacrificial love, and meeting the needs of the less fortunate was modeled by Jesus, followed by the early church, and establishes an example that Hyde Park is following. We serve our global community with tangible love so they will see Christ in us.

Disciple making strategy

Life with Jesus: Disciples are people who are becoming more like Jesus each day. Disciples learn to be like Jesus, love like Jesus, serve like Jesus, and continue the ministry Jesus began by being part of the body of Christ. One writer defined discipleship as “the process of becoming who Jesus would be if he were you” (www.dwillard.org/articles/artview.asp?artID=71). Our life in Christ through salvation influences all other relationships in life. (Ephesians 1-2)

Life in my home: New life in Christ affects my family, marriage, singleness, parenting, and finances. A radically changed life in Christ leads to a radically changed home life. (Ephesians 5:21-6:4)

Life in my church: We are not designed live the Christian life in isolation. Christianity is life within the local body of believers called the church. The church is not a location or a building, but a group of people radically changed by Jesus and given a mission to spread the gospel. (Ephesians 4:1-32)

Life in my world: The world is broken and Jesus’ rescue plan includes his disciples. Our new life with Jesus compels us to share with the world the hope we have found in Jesus. (Ephesians 6)

The mission of Hyde Park is to connect all people to God and each other as we grow to fully devoted and equipped followers of Jesus Christ. When our life is connected to Jesus through salvation (John 15) we are to bear fruit in all spheres of our life.
